Players Top 25 Poll Concludes it's Freshman Season

May 14, 2008

College Baseball Hub's "Players Top 25 Poll" has concluded it's Freshman season.  We've asked our voting players to pack it in, because now is the time to focus on finals, conference races, conference tournaments, and playoffs.  Polls are out the window anyway, once conference tournaments and the NCAA tournament start.

We've done so privately already, but we'd like to publicly express our appreciation to our voters.  We'd have no poll without them.  As we wrote at the beginning of the season, everyone seemed to have their own poll (coaches, sportswriters, so-called experts, guys on couches with potato chip crums on their shirts), except the most important people in baseball:  the players.  We are tickled that we got to bring it to life.   We can't wait for next year.

Stick with us for the remainder of this season, as we continue to annoint Players of the Week, and begin coverage of summer leagues, the MLB draft, and recruiting events.

Thanks for visiting.

So Sayeth the Players...

Players Top 25 Poll Revealed!

The players have voted, and one might interpret their ballots to say that the ACC and PAC 10 rule the roost.  From 1 through 6, it goes ACC, ACC, ACC, PAC 10, PAC 10, PAC 10.  Lordy, that's a lot of capital letters.  The SEC doesn't make an appearance until the eleven spot.  I'm tired of talking about it.  If you want to see if for yourself, point and click here...

Players of the Week!

April 21, 2008

Our title of Players of the "Week", is a bit of a misnomer.  We actually on look at weekend performances.  We understand RPIs can be enhanced or trashed during non-conference mid-week games.  However, we love a good weekend conference battle here at College Baseball Hub.  So, we hereby ruleth the weekend series to be of all consuming importance.   It's good to be King.   Check out this week's (actually weekend's) royality.   Clicketh here...

The Players Speak!

Players Top 25 Poll released

March 19, 2008

This week's College Baseball Hub Player's Top 25 Poll shows Arizona State and Arizona holding the top two spots.  The PAC 10  and Big 12 each have five members in the top 25, with the ACC and SEC having four each.  Editorial:  Looking at the Players Poll, one may deem the PAC 10 to be the nation's best conference, being as it occupies the top two spots, with three other teams sprinkled throughout.  That will be tougher to figure out now, since conference play is under way, and inter-conference play is limited to mid-week games that are restricted by convenient geography.

We've added an "Almost In" listing of teams not quite making the top 25.  See it all by clicking here...

Thinking Out Loud

Is Wednesday the New Sunday?

Will the new compressed D1 season lead to an explosion of offense in mid-week games?    Did David wear steel-toed boots against Goliath?   Did Reese Witherspoon have the audacity to call orange to new pink?  All this, and more...

Players Poll:  Week Two!

The players have spoken!  Arizona State tops the nation for the second straight week in the collective minds of the voters of the College Baseball Hub Players Top 25, the only poll where the voters are exclusively NCAA D1 players.

The Pac 10 currently rules the latest edition of the Players Top 25.  Arizona State and Arizona hold the top two spots, while four other Pac 10 teams are sprinkled throughout.  The ACC has an equal number of teams in the top 25, with  North Carolina leading their conference at the number four position.  The SEC has three representatives in the top seven teams, but only one more in the top 25.  Big Twelve teams appear well respected by our voters, with five teams landing in the top 25.

Thanks to our voters for sharing their opinions and time.
