24 College Players Taken in the 1st Round of the 2020 MLB Draft


Spencer Torkelson was selected 1st overall by the Detroit Tigers

The first 7 picks in the 2020 MLB Draft were college players, with Arizona State's Spencer Torkelson being taken first overall by the Detroit Tigers. Given Torkelson's success hitting in college (.337/.443/.723, 48 HR, 119 RBI), it was no suprise to see him first off the board. Heston Kjerstad, Max Meyer, Asa Lacy, and Austin Martin followed with the next four picks respectively, all of which have dominated the college baseball scene over the past few years.
